The next day Beth felt refreshed and changed into some colourful clothes instead of wearing black all the time which Trevor used to hate. After collecting some supplies from the shops there was a lot of tidying up to do as there was blood all over the kitchen tiles and also the knife to dispose of.Beth wrapped the body in several bin bags and left him in the extension. A few days later a policeman called round to return Trevor's watch and was very keen to help them with their drain problem, Beth and Mandy's excuse for the smell of the decomposing body. They told Rachel that her dad had left after a row, and their neighbours they were putting in an ornamental fish pond when Beth started digging up the garden. Sinbad was soon to discover their secret when he found the knife and tiles in a big bag that the dustmen had left behind. But it didn't seem to bother him as he knew what Trevor was like. After a few days of hard work the hole was finally deep enough to bury Trevor. Beth and Mandy waited for it to get dark , with Rachel asleep upstairs they dragged the body outside, Mandy was trembling so Beth continued on her own and all that was left was a patch of dirt. The next morning they received a letter from Mrs Shackleton the landlord saying they no longer needed the safe house now that Trevor had disappeared and that their lease would expire in six months time, worried that someone else would discover the body they knew they would have to find a way of staying.
After the funeral Auntie Brenna had one last request she wanted Trevor's signet ring, apparently it was a family heirloom. After attempting to get an identical ring this didn’t work so Sinbad offered to retrieve the ring from the body himself while Beth celebrated her 18th birthday. However Beth arrived back at the house while he was digging and found Sinbad crying, he couldn’t go through with it as he didn’t believe Trevor deserved to be killed, so Beth explained exactly what he was like and what he did to her and Rachel and they continued the task between them. The following day Beth was pleased to receive the A level results she wanted to get into Guy’s but decides to stay in Liverpool and go to the local university instead, and later started going out with Peter Harrison unaware of his past, but soon broke of the relationship when Mandy told her he once raped someone. After her brief romance with Peter Harrison Beth was left uncertain of her sexuality and soon found herself attracted to Margaret Clemance the Farnham's nanny. At first Margaret was shocked by the sort of friendship Beth had in mind but later Beth started a relationship with Chris Myers a university lecturer which blossomed despite their age differences.
Mandy panics and temporarily leaves the close, and Sinbad takes the blame for the missing money but Ron insists he pays it back, forcing Sinbad to borrow from a loan shark who is later taken over by Kenny Maguire. But its not long before Kenny increases the loan repayments putting pressure on Mandy. As Mandy continues to struggle with the repayments Kenny suggests she sleeps with him to pay back the loan, seeing no way out Mandy reluctantly agress. Sinbad can’t beleve what Mandy had done and with the help of Barry Grant he agrees to get Kenny Maguire off their backs.
The next day when Mandy, Sinbad and Rachel returned from holiday Beth is overjoyed to see them and explains what Eddie has been up to while they were away. Sinbad went round to Eddies to apologise only to discover he plans to get the waterboard out for the next day. They realised they would have to move the body before the diggers arrived so with some careful planning between them, and with Rachel at the pictures Beth and Sinbad started digging but Mandy panicked and decided she couldn’t go through with it, so the only other option left was to run away to Ireland.
